Okay, that's an incredibly stupid statement. Because if Sherlock Holmes were gay or bi, he would fancy Watson in a heartbeat! He loves Watson! The only reason he wouldn't be interested in getting in Watson's pants was if he were straight or asexual.

THAT ASPECT DIDN'T EVEN OCCUR TO ME, I was too busy going :/ at the rest of it. What are you ON about, Moffatt. Watson is THE ONLY PERSON HOLMES EVEN LIKES. Of course he would fancy him if he swung that way!

There are two people I can actually picture Sherlock Holmes having sex with, Watson and Irene Adler. If he's going to have a sexuality at all, there aren't very many more options.

Even worse, I fear I might have been doing the breathing and possibly even the hand actions in my sleep, because it woke myself up.

Pfft, whatevs. Call me when you've woken yourself up by making crazed dinosaur roars of delight and epically loud NOM NOM NOM noises because you dreamed you were a horrible monster stomping cities and hungrily devouring tasty humans.

ALSO! I don't think there is anything that suggests Sherlock is gay but if he was he wouldn't fancy John [Watson].

This is the stupidest statement in the history of stupid statements and I now srsly question this man's ability to write this show correctly.

BUT LIZ I AM A VERY QUIET SLEEPER. Making any kind of noise at all is quite impressive for me (srsly I breathe so quietly during my sleepytimes authorial thought I was dead), so I cannot compete in this :(

IKR I AM GRUMPY AND UNIMPRESSED. except that the first episode really was very very good so you should watch it anyway. just watch it and then raise your eye sceptically at Moffatt and go "Sherlock wouldn't fancy John? REALLY NOW?"

ME TOO ME TOO. I mean, when I am not having crazed dino dreams, I mean. Oh, and the weirdo handpuppet giggling dream from the other day. BUT OTHERWISE YES.

it just vexes me so immensely when a show's writers do not seem to know their characters at ALL. UGH. I mean, one of the main threads that has followed through all adaptations of Sherlock Holmes is the profound emotional connection/amount of mutual respect between Watson and Holmes. To say "oh yeah, Holmes isn't gay, but if he WAS, he would never fancy the only human being with whom he can successfully interact" just smacks of willful ignorance at best and homophobia at worst, idk.

OIC from wiki that he is the writer from Coupling, an extremely heterosexist show. Meh.

Moffatt has a history of saying stupid shit like this. I just ignore him.

I REJECT YOUR INTERPRETATION AND SUBSTITUTE MY OWN, MOFFATT.

I find it's a lot easier to enjoy his writing if I pretend he's mysteriously mute or something and the interviews don't exist.

Oh, ffs, like we needed more evidence that Moffatt should NEVER BE ALLOWED TO DO ANY INTERVIEWS EVER! It's like he's got some sick compulsion to say something stupid every time he opens his mouth.
