SERIOUSLY. SERIOUSLY ARGH. Also jfc when was the last time any of them actually hung out around eight year old boys? THEY DON'T CHECK GIRLS OUT, THEY CHASE GIRLS AROUND WITH WATER PISTOLS. BECAUSE THEY HAVE NOT HIT PUBERTY.
It could have actually been really interesting if they'd taken the effort to make him believably Dean-esque. (Or if they had made him SAM-ESQUE. Oh the adorable possibilities that could have been there.)
You speak for me. I mean, Castiel went from actually kind of cool in a creepy way when first introduced to unbearably annoying during the great shipping of Dean's Epic Manpain/Castiel's Epic Angelpain, to not so bad when he became just a bunch of decently scripted oneliners without much personality attached. But Ben? In the abstract I will defend his right not to be killed off, because I do not approve of plugging in women and children to fulfill a male domestic fantasy and then killing them off to motivate a male revenge plot, but in the concrete he is disturbing and loathsome and I do not wish him well.
Hahahaha yep, that is My Castiel Journey right there. WHO KNOWS WHAT THE FUTURE WILL BRING.
Yeah, I know what you mean re the plugging in women and children just to kill them off again. If Lisa is killed off I will be really unimpressed, but... honestly I think I could live with it if Ben died. (Except then Dean would angst about what a good kid he was blah bah blah. Maybe he should stay alive and just never show up on camera.)
Unlike a lot of people, I didn't particularly dislike the S5 finale, but I'm really hoping that in S6, Lisa's all "Dean, this isn't working. I've got my life and my son to look after, and you've got your giant mountain of issues", and kicks him out. Because it seemed less "She's really into him and will happily be his Fantasy Wife!" than "She remembers him fondly and is kind of worried about all of the hints he's been dropping that he'll do something dire, so she's ready to invite him in for dinner and a beer and see how things go."
And having her show she's a person with desires and interests of her own, and not a Potential Wife Unit to plug into Dean's life as desired would be good.
