the Accepting Dad blog was very cool. My son dressed as Ani-Frid Lingstad (from Abba) for Halloween... he has long hair and wears nailpolish but generally stays out of skirts. He wore gold lame and high heels for his Abba outfit!
The only thing my son usually hears is "what are you?" but he is not uncertain about himself when he says "boy." (i just about dressed down a butch little boy recently who ROLLED HIS EYES AT ME when my boy said "boy"!! the nerve!!) He knows we love him unconditionally and has a lot of friends, mostly girls. I don't think he is gay (he really loves girls) but he is only nine. He is very confident in himself so I think he'll be all right. But it is really cool to read about the I am Me camp for non-gender conforming kids. Yay! At the camp his dad grew up in they have two girl tribes and two boy tribes, and he was recently asking me if he would be in the tribe with his girl cousins, and we talked it over that there are boy tribes... he didn't seem TOO concerned.
