that which bears repeating

I am creeped out by people who hate celebrities excessively. Unless that celebrity has personally done you harm/affected your life in a significant and negative manner/supported a philosophy which would do same, I think it is creepy to hate them. (Depending on what said personal harm/affect/philosophy is, I may still look at you a bit oddly ( Read more... )

I am thankful to the SPN Fandom for giving me a taste of random celebrity hate no matter what, as well as celebrity entitlement, because if I hadn't known about that I don't think I could have survived getting into Korean Entertainment fandom.

House trained me re random hate and entitlement. And also bitchiness. I MAINTAIN THAT HOUSE FANDOM WAS A LOT BITCHIER THAN SPN CAN EVER DREAM OF BEING.

You know what's even more annoying? That if you claim to like her, it's because you're a creepy Jared fan who only likes everything he does, blah blah.

WHAT A COP-OUT. I've thought she was GORGEOUS since the first scene she was in, and then fell for her completely when I watched Wildfire and heard about how sweet she is from her fans who have nothing to do with SPN, thank god. bOTH OF WHICH WERE long before i knew she was dating him.

What's unfortunate is that all of this stuff always seems to come out right before a convention. It's weird.
EVERYONE MUST CHILL.

YES THAT ANNOYS ME SO MUCH. Because a) I like her IN HER OWN RIGHT (it took me a while to warm up to her Ruby, but then I FELL IN LOVE and watched all her adorable interviews on YT and hunted down Wildfire and THEN people started saying she and Jared were dating) and b) I AM A CREEPY JENSEN FAN, GODDAMMIT.

LOOK IF I DON'T BRING HIM INTO CONVERSATION AT LEAST ONCE A DAY, A KITTEN DIES.

AND THEN JENSEN CRIES.

(BECAUSE THE KITTEN DIED IN HIS BREAKFAST.)

YAY THIS. Hating someone when you don't know them personally (and they aren't, as far as we can tell, a CREEPY RAPIST - yes Roman Polanski I am looking at you), is just weird. And annoying.

Is there wank again? I'm pretty of out of touch with the SPN fandom lately, so the comments here are the only context I have for this post.

I think people should be allowed to like or dislike whomever they want to, as long as no one gets nasty about it. IMO, it's only creepy in extremes--if you love or hate somebody so much that you're writing them letters in your blood or whatever, well, that's messed-up. A healthy amount of adoration or revilement for a celebrity, however? I think that's okay.

Ish. Go back a post if you're dying for the deets.

Well yes, I'm in full support of people being free to like or dislike as they see fit. Revilement is still stronger a word than I'm comfortable with, though.

You're right, "revilement" is too strong, I should have used a different word there. Basically, though, I think people can like/dislike whoever/whatever they want to, as long as they're not douchey about it to others with different opinions. Oh, fandom, such ~*~drama~*~
