This morning I stated on Twitter that we shouldn't give Griffin a platform for his views and was immediately schooled by ten thousand people I didn't even know. My retort was going to be: "Fine, he can exercise his freedom of speech, but I hope someone bricks him in the face outside the studio". But then I thought that that might be a foolish thing to say on a public Twitter.

I stand by my earlier assessment. I was genuinely disappointed he made it into the studio alive.

I do see now that we have to afford him freedom of speech, although I don't necessarily think that the BBC has to do it - Griffin has already stated that he thinks the BBC is "institutionally biased" against him, so it's not like he's not going to martyr himself over it anyway. My main gripe is that Nick Griffin is very, very good with propaganda, and it worries me that he's been given a platform for it. But I could say the same thing about David Cameron. I can only hope that he gets smacked down in such a way that the majority will see him for the repellent little ( ... )

I quite like all of the protest this has raised. Obviously my main reason for supporting giving Griffin a platform for his views is so he can be smacked down in public, but the amount of people saying NO to his appearance on QT has stirred up the issue of his odiousness again. Apparently there are approx 500 people outside of the BBC studios protesting the filming right now. That pleases me! In an ideal world, Griffin should have lots of interviews in which people politely and logically rip him to shreds, whilst large numbers of people shout anti-BNP slogans at him through the gates.

Hopefully the general audience of Question Time is intelligent enough to not be swayed by his slimy propaganda. I have faith in the BBC'S viewership!

Ultimately, I would rather do something legal but nevertheless immensely humiliating to him. I SHOULD PROBABLY START THINKING ABOUT IT LEST I ONE DAY BUMP INTO HIM.

10:35! :D 'though alas I won't be able to watch it 'til it's on iplayer, as I don't have a TV here.

The guy is horrible, but I don't approve of any suppression of the freedom of speech. And he has already got three or so MEPs, so it's not like we can carry on pretending he doesn't exist. Anyone who's soft enough in the head to see him as anything other than a hateful bigoted little man would find their way to him or something equally vile anyway. Hopefully, this way, everyone gets a chance to hear him out and then call him a dick.

I'm hoping that everyone will be extremely polite and listen to him spout his BS without interruption and then calmly and logically rip it all apart. MORAL HIGHGROUNDS! (Plus I don't trust him to not use it to his advantage if people get rowdy/rude/whathaveyou.)

Well my feeling is everyone is entitled to a voice and as my bro said 'it'll be interesting to see him be shot down and schooled.' I couldn't disagree with him more on everything but the more you try and censor something that doesn't help the situation. I want to see him get the smack down as you say, but i don't think the people rioting are making the right move, I'd worry if he got lots of support but not if he's on one programme where everyone can see how wrong he is.
