I really like the ficlets. They both sort of round each other out and at the same time complement the other.
The first one is definitely the one that catches the eye most, sort of like a sparkly thingie on a blacktop. I really, really liked the concept that gaining memories is more painful than losing them, or losing bits and pieces of flesh. Because when you're whole enough to know what you're missing, the loss is that much greater.
And yeah, Sammy. The second ficlet is much more low-key, but intense in a different sort of way for it. Those months must have been literally hell on earth for him. No wonder he lost his way and hooked up with a demon; revenge does crazy things to people. Throw in a self-destructive habit and you've got a party in your brain-cells, All deep-frying, All the time.
