Here, have some tunes:
If you're at all a fan of Neil Young, take that track by the love of god. It's possibly the best version of Old Man I've ever heard. Even better than the album version. CRAZY. (The song doesn't actually begin ( Read more... )

Most of the time, this fic idea just pops into my head, and won't leave me alone until I write it. So, I open up word and write down EVERYTHING MY BRAIN TELLS ME, and then after that, I try to think about where it could go from there. Not really planning, per se, but not NOT planning either.

FOR INSTANCE. My fandom BFF totally gave me an idea for next year's Big Bang, and I'm already writing it. Have no idea how it's going to end though. LOL

For one glorious, amazing moment I forgot which bitchy!Sam goes camping fic you were talking about and THOUGHT YOU MEANT PRESENT-DAY!SAM. IN A TENT! WITH DEAN! OMG. I think your camping fic may need a sequel 8D

Anyway, ahahahaa 90% of the time the ending is what I come up with first. And then I go 'OH GOSH HOW DO I GET THERE?' Sometimes I come up with the beginning and end at the same time, which is always fun. I hear ya on the not writing chronologically, though. It varies depending on how long the fic is, but if it's saaaay 3/4k+, I skip about all over the place. I have the outline down obsessively enough by that point that I don't have to worry about unexpected directions, woooo.

YOU TOLD ME ABOUT THAT. Although you didn't share the actual limerick with me, omg *_* Although talk very, very much does not rhyme with ock in my language. (I am currently sat here attempting to mimic your accent to figure out how it's meant to sound. Mostly I am failing at this attempt.)

The neuroticer erotica one! :D I am still trying and failing to mimic your accent D: TALK. TOCK. WHAT. NO. GO AWAY, AMERICAN.

It's one of my favourite things you've written too :3 I think I might go reread it. And then come back here and encourage you to write an amazing post-S4 bitchy camping fic. (CMON IT WOULD BE UH-MAAAZ-IIIING.) (Touch it, bb. Touch it like you mean it.)

Plans hinder me, hugely. Sticking to them takes all the joy out of writing for me, I hate using them. Everything I ever planned in detail just failed horribly because the writing would just try to go in a different direction from the plan and it was like trying to wrestle with a bear, so. The best pieces of writing I've done weren't planned at all.

I am looking at your detailed plans in AWE. I never plan anything: I might write a few scenes, which give me a basic idea of which direction I want to go in, but most of the stuff I just come up with on the fly (and it shows).

What is this 'plan' thing you speak of? XD Ahahaha no, I tend to get an idea for a fic and then I'll WRITE WRITE WRITE until I can't write anymore. Sometimes I will talk to a friend about it in chat and we'll lay a few things out - especially for the longer stories - but usually I just sit down and write until the story is done. Once, I planned stuff out in a notebook for a fic - I was in a job which was pretty much paying me to sit on my ass all day and read, so I had the time but not the computer to write on - and I wrote out character bios and a vague 'this could happen' for the story but that's as far as planning goes for me!

If I DO try to plan it usually ends up being ignored and I just write what I want. XD
