so thanks to Tree, I have now identified my mystery spider! Family Steodata, the false widows. Look JUST LIKE Black Widows, but not Deadly! oh Joy! because they are ALL AROUND US. A spider common to North America, yet smaller than the black widow.

HUGE SIGH OF RELIEF.

I've been killing these little dudes since early last spring. They freak me RIGHT OUT by looking too much like Widows. At least they are recognized as False Widows.
