Because my only serious relationship has been a long-distance one, there are a variety of holes in my experience. One of those is the idea of spending time together that is not focused on actually being together. When you see your significant other for two to three days every four to six weeks, you endeavor to make those days count. Whether ( Read more... )

And, to say that ended poorly is to gloss over the police report.

To be fair, campus police aren't quite the real thing.

They never even fingerprinted me.

In a lot of ways, you have the best part of the relationship, because your time together can be so focused. There is no day-to-day bullshit to get in the way, because you maintain separate homes, bank accounts, and identities, and you're both responsible people.

I doubt you would get bored with him if he were there 24/7, but you would settle into a groove and the dynamic would change. Not necessarily for better or worse, just different. But you really have the best situation - he's far enough away that you can be apart, and close enough that you can see each other so frequently. Best kind of long-distance relationship there could be.

IMHO, of course.

Hmm... I would think living less than six hours away by car would still be better.

Funny -- I find the "day-to-day bullshit" to be some of the most rewarding elements of my life.

I for one miss living alone, partly for the freedom that came with never having to compromise over which movie to watch or what would be for dinner, but also because my boyfriend and I have totally differences views on hygiene.

There are days when I wish I could beat him for every time he sneezes in his sleep.

Just the idea of it apparently renders me grammatically useless.

I still managed to suss out your intent, though not the appeal of someone who challenges both your movie selections and your hygienic sensibilities.

I think I'd have a greater appreciation for the guys I dated if I only had to see them once a month.... that doesn't mean I have any idea what it's like to be in love though. Could be a different situation all together.

It's true, the blowjobs are all the more precious to me, whereas you are irritated that the bobbing head is blocking your view of the television.

Love, shmove.
