The two best conversations of my day

I. At Work Setting: The Lab of Classes Where I work.

Me: *walking back to my desk, reading my kindle*
Instructor: *passing me* Finish your book?
Me: *Looking up from kindle* *pausing for a second and then smiling* One of them.
Instructor: One- *and he starts laughing*

And we just laugh. I'm that girl at my work, and really no one cares. It's sort of like this endearing quality everyone is used to about me. I walk the whole buildings reading my book. I walk to and from the bathroom or class rooms, read for the hour during lunch. I'm that girl who loves reading, and does it in her spare time.

Who everyone teases will run into something or someone sooner or later, but I haven't in eight months of walking these underground, people packed miles. Little teasing, amused moments happen like this every few days every week. "Don't trip!" Or asking me what I'm reading, and getting my honest opinion on the Kindle.

It's so very....homey, in an odd way. And this last week or two has been full of all these moments where I feel like I'm part of a small community at my work finally. Suddenly. And yet like it was always building to this. Supportive and compassionate and accepting and professional all at once.

II. At HomeSetting: In my Bedroom, Packing for Baltimore

Earl: *walking in* Do you want to borrow my computer for the weekend?
Me: *some completely incoherent breath noise*
Earl: *still staring at me*
Me: ......*weakly* I'd really rather not answer that question since I just got you a toy on it that you're really in love with.
Earl: *a little more sternly* Yes, but do you want to borrow my computer for the weekend?
Me: *fffarr more weakly* ...yes.
Earl: You should take it then. *wanders out just as simply*

Me: *sort of stuttering* Did you hear Earl?
Li: *on the phone, in my ear* Yeah. He's a prince.
