Picked by
in_the_blue:
I'm always Jean.
And I'm always the Phoenix.
Jean Grey of
The X-men. Marvel Girl. The Phoenix. The singular most favorite character of my whole life since I was six years old. Endsong. And this storyline referenced in this icon. It's all about choosing to heal, to let other live, and above all things to love greater than anything else.
One of my earliest writing icons, and one I picked more for poetry than prose or fic. In writing we taken one a whole different way of speech, of speaking. Poetry for me was a way of speaking where I broke down all the doors and windows, speaking directly from my soul. But it was also, I was too often aware, as though I'd begun speaking an entirely different language few others understood. And in that complex dichotomy, this icon felt right.
Cordelia Gallowglass. Heir of
The Warlock, from M'Lady Witch. I read this book when I was eleven or twelve, not long after it was written. I can't really remember if my mother or my father had it. She ran away from her prince, to make him right for her in the end. This is one of those oldest images of a witch in my head. The image, not Cordelia. I made this icon, and for the longest time it was all I used for my spiritual posts.
Muse on!
Monique of
Sinfest. Not my favorite character of it all, mind you, but this one was picked for very different reasons. Back in The Game, which is always going to be Mutant Mansion/X-Men_PBEM, for two or three very specific people. Letter X. Dale. Winter. I got called Muse more often than not. This was more a nod to them, to all those times.
Barefoot, walking in the darkness, with only a lantern. No weapons, no details, following into the distance. This is an image that has followed my life around for longer than I can even try to place a name to. James and I used to talk about. David, Jennifer, My Girl, my world, my path. Such faith and such dedication comes to me in it. The potential and the promise and the calling.
