I didn't go to dentist in Korea, because I have this deep seated wanted to be able to converse with my dentist (or doctor or hair cutter or, well, you get the picture) in a language we mutually speak. That's the problem with discount places, unfortunately. So glad that you were able to see your family dentist!

Yeah, generally (not necessarily always) the places with the great deals on exams make all of their money doing the follow up work. Since the person looking at your mouth depends on that follow up work to continue getting paid they have a lot of incentive to find things that need doing.

I've had the same problem with Castle Dental - I probably didn't really need that crown when I was 15 and the tooth they pulled was probably actually just a filling or crown. Michael just went to one of those dentists too and they (the front desk lady - the dentist didn't say much of anything) said that he needed 2 crowns and some serious deep cleaning for a total of $800. We sought a second opinion. That dentist said every thing looked good. No cavities and his gums were fine. Someone needs to start regulating this!!!

This is so crazy! It isn't right and it should be regulated. Not everyone in the world has the money to get second opinions, no less all the crazy extra work places tell them that they need. It makes me cranky.
