I kinda like Shiki (though same as you, I'm not in love with it yet). There's something about mysterious villages that attract me, you know? Of course, there's also the case where it doesn't work out for me (like Winter's Ookami Kakushi -- with the bland characters and all that), but so far I like how Shiki portrays its characters and mystery, so I'm hoping for more~ ♥

In response to your side note: Ugh, they said that? The first FMA anime was so "WTF JUST HAPPENED" with its alternate universe theory. Arakawa's ending made a hell lot of sense, rather than the first adaptation's "oh, let's just put a whole other plot into the series for the ending so the viewers won't criticize us 'cause they're all confused!"

I have even seen people say they still like the first series now that they've seen all of the second one. o_O And it seems strange to me that "true" fans of the series are really hesitant about watching the new one, saying it won't be as good as the first one. Oh anime fandom, you're so full of crazies aren't ya?
