Okay, so, in light of the recent flappy heart issue, I finally did something I should have done a long, long time ago and.. actually looked up the drug that was prescribed to me for my blood pressure back in December of 2006 ( Read more... )

what she did was up the dosage of the same drug from 25mg to 50 mg, and yes, that happened in the first week of January. And yes, I do think that (the increase, that is) is what's making my heart crazy now. And maybe it's just that the original dosage my own doctor prescribed to me was too low to interfere with the epinephrine enough to put me at risk? But... still. This is something he should have fucking told me.

I would recommend the one I saw this past week -- the one who got me the heart monitor. His name is Charles Taylor, and I'm switching to him, too.

same place. It's the North Perimeter Family Medicine group, kind of like where Dr. Patel was? In that there are like six doctors there, and so long as one of them is your PCP, you can see all the others for the same price. But it's at Northside (Bldg 960). There are two doctors there so far who aren't fired: Anu Murthy (that's the woman who saw me when I was super sick and having black discharges, the one who told me how much she hated the over-prescription of antibiotics. I like her) and there's the one I saw just last week, Charles Taylor. Also a nice guy, younger than Dr. High, some of the first words out of his mouth were : "Why are you on... that one?" and he didn't try to tell me that I was just stressed and to go home.

Wow-

Are you going to speak with him and TELL HIM why you are going to change?
I mean....
MAYBE he's got some reasoning for giving you the specific drug. Maybe it has another part of it that does something REALLY GOOD for you....and not so much on that *slightly bad part???

I'm just hoping he was awake that day-

"He knows my father. He knows my entire medical history. He has prescribed other important things* for me in the past. "

Sounds like a *HE* to me....?

Where did the *she* come in?

yeah. All I can figure is that he either a) just didn't make the connection, which is unfortunate but understandable, and b) prescribed me such a low dose (he did say when he prescribed it to me in the first place that it was the lowest prescribable dose) that it wouldn't block the epinephrine enough to be an issue. I have a call into gothgirlrx to find out.

But the Dr. I saw in January when I redeveloped the severe bronchitis superbug? The one who doubled my dosage of the drug without looking at my history? Yeah, she's good and fired. I'll never go see her again.

Also...I guess I just feel stupid, you know? Thank god I haven't actually been stung or bitten in the last year...
