Book List 2014

Jan 20, 2014 17:01

I love having a list of what books I've read each year. I started doing this in 2010 and didn't complete one in 2011, which I really regret, as I love to be able to go back and check it out. Last year's list was nearly as long or as complete as I would like it to be, so I'm going to try and do better this year.

1. Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn ( Read more... )

I checked out Gone Girl but I only got a couple chapters in before I gave up. What did you think of it? Is it worth another try?

Making my book list every single year (I think I started in 2009 when I saw other people on LJ doing it) is one of my favorite, favorite things.

willow_wand, give Gone Girl another try. I was ready to put it down too, but once you get to the middle it really takes off. I still can't say I "loved" it, but I will say it's worth reading.

I really enjoy doing it and was very lax with it last year because of all the stress from my job. I want to try and be better this year!

I think it's interesting to go back and see what authors I was really into at the time or if I got more books or fewer books in thanks to weekend trips.

Gone Girl was such a mindfuck, but really amazing. I can't wait to see what they do with the movie, although Reese Witherspoon is in it and I'm not really a fan so I guess we'll see...

Recs?? Oh lord, I'm so bad at recs because I read so much and then I forget what the titles were. I should do what you're doing here. If I remember any I'll let you know. :)

Hahahah, Gigi, that's why I have to do this, because if I didn't I would not remember what I just read. AAnd I have to write it down quickly (or at least before I get it back to the library).

I read Sharp Objects by Flynn last year and it was seriously the darkest, nastiest book I think I've ever read. So I immediately put my name on the list for Gone Girl.

Reese is not my favorite in dramatic roles, fo sho, though I ended up liking Water for Elephants more than I thought I would. I really enjoyed that book and was expecting a clusterfuck of a movie, and it wasn't quite that. I think she plays neurotic well, though, so I think she'll be a decent Amy.
