stupid carrots -- the vitamins just aren't worth the hassle

I've figured it out!!! RAW CARROTS GIVE ME THE HICCUPS! I'm serious!

I've had the hiccups all day. They've been driving me crazy. And I keep munching on carrots hoping that'll help and it's not. Then all of a sudden I have one of those sense-memories about the taste of carrots and having the hiccups.  I google "carrots and hiccups" and what do you ( Read more... )

FRENCH FRIES! I don't know why, but if I haven't eaten them in a long time, they always give me the hiccups...

Oh, good. I'm glad I'm not the only one! But how sad about french fries -- I have to admit I have a huge weakness for those things. Mmmm...

Ever since I was a little girl, I always get the hiccups after my first bite of bread, whether it's a sandwich, whether it has stuff on it, or whether it's just plain dry bread. They don't often last long (but sometimes do!) but to this day, it still happens.

That's even stranger than bountifulpots and her french fries.

So do you still eat bread?

Sure! I love bread!

What's even stranger is the fact that apparently, I am not alone in this. I wrote this tidbit of trivia into my profile when I joined bookcrossing and I got a PM from a gal in Australia one day out of the blue, telling me that she read it in my profile and laughed because she had thought SHE was the only one that happens to!

I would've thought I was the only one with the carrot theory until I googled it. :)

It's so strange -- I wonder if we develop slight allergies or sensitivities to these things and that's why it bothers some of us and not others. Of course ... I think the carrot thing only happens to me when I'm eating carrots by themselves. I've never noticed it when I eat them with other things.

I'm glad yours aren't severe. Mine were so bad today that I started feeling ill. I'm not sure I'll be taking carrots as a snack anymore. I'd hate to have to give up bread! Sad!

Hooray for small miracles. :)

ok THAT is craziness! And I love the prayer of serenity starting with "Bugs Bunny,...."

LOL

I get hiccups when I eat things too fast. which means I've gotten them from french fries (*hangs head in shame*), sandwiches, even chicken, and other things I can't remember right now. I can literally feel them coming on, but of course it's too late at that point. Then I have them and they hurt. blech.

There's a reason my mom said not to inhale my food!

Dear Sufferer :-)

I am pleased to know you found the group helpful. It is my hope that you will use the serenity prayer for your advancement in your healing process. Other causes Sundrip.com has taken upon itself to spread the word about are: green pea flatulence and temporary blindness caused by eating radishes. If you know anyone who suffers from these afflictions please send them to the group that you linked to in your entry.

As I said before, I myself do not suffer from these affliction but hey, I can still set up a place for y'all to meet and greet and perhaps even laugh.

Thanks for dropping by,
