Dawning Edge - V [Voice/Action]

[He had seen the list and heard well the duty set out before him. As he sat in his new-found home, the fourteenth room of the fourth community housing building, the samurai named Jack could not help but wonder if those numbers would bring bad luck to him. Staring out at the approaching night through the window, he found he had to bolster his ( Read more... )

[Whenever Jack returns from his jaunt in the kitchen back to his bedroom, he'll find it quite dark.

He'll wait until Jack closes the door before revealing himself.]

Found a new place, I see.

[The samurai was not surprised. Those who stuck to the shadows and night for their element were loathe to leave them...or discuss where they were going to be.] Yes, though it is possessing more space and rooms than I need at this time. However, in the end, it suits my needs well. But I digress, that is not the point I called this meeting.

I take it you heard the news of what is to happen to me.

[He gives a short nod.]

You and nine others are slated to be taken by the Malnosso's robots to a secure facility for experimentation.

Yes, that is correct. It is because of this that I have a favor to ask.

What did you have in mind?

[He drew the sheathed sword from his belt, holding it out in one hand towards his ally.] I need you to keep this hidden. When the robots come, they will ensure that I am disarmed and I do not wish for them to possibly come into possession of this.

[He'll reach out and take it carefully, but respectfully. As someone well immersed in Japanese culture from his time abroad, the sword of a samurai is his most important possession. Though he is of yet unsure of the exact level of holy power in Jack's sword, the gesture is a very, very significant one.]

I understand.

...But I will be taking part of this operation myself. I intend to infiltrate the facility personally.

[The gesture was not lost to Jack. The news that Batman would be infiltrating the building put part of his worries at ease.] I merely trust you with finding a place to hide this away from the drones when they come for me. I do not expect you to be able to sneak it into the facility itself.

As it stands, I have to carry a minimal load myself. A katana isn't concealable, so I can't bring it in.

But there might be a way. I'll do some digging about members of the strike force. If nothing else, maybe one of them can bring it in from outside. If you would prefer not to risk it, I understand.

As I trust you, so I trust your judgment in associates and planning.

I'll see what I can do. If I don't find anyone I can trust enough to deliver your sword reliably, I'll try to find someone to deliver a different sword instead. It is more important that your blade is kept safe, and I'm sure you have the skill to work with whatever you may have on hand.

It would not be the first time I have had to fight with weaponry other than my own sword. Unlike others, my years of training in youth gave me knowledge in many types of armed fighting styles.

Then you were trained very well. Many warriors never learn that relying on a single tactic can be as fatal as fighting without a weapon at all.

Specialization is good. Overspecialization is not.

If need be, I can fight unarmed until a suitable, albeit improvised, weapon can be found. Though I doubt that bare hands will have much affect on robots.

Not much will. They will no doubt be our most dangerous foes. Engaging them directly wouldn't be wise, especially if they have superior numbers.

Have any weakpoints on the robots' bodies been found in the past?
