Dom’s words slid quietly into his ears and around his brain.
Your work doesn't feel cliche at all, very new and fresh, nice.

Thank you for your feedback. I was worried that it would come off as cliched, and you telling me that it doesn't takes a huge weight off my shoulders. Thank you.

My favorite line:
"So, if you let me just have this one night, if you let me survive the rest of my life without the thought of eternal damnation, I promise…’ Elijah swallowed hard against a lump of dread . ‘I promise I will never do this again.’"
The bit "if you let me just have this one night." I remember making similar bargains with god when I was an adolescent. "If you just let me KNOW for tonight that Angelina Jolie and not Jonny Lee Miller is the reason I have the Hackers movie poster over my bed, I promise I'll go back to believing it's the boy I like." Seems stupid, but self-delusion is a fairly hard-core drug and just as self-destructive as crack.
I'd be interested in reading a follow-up. Does Elijah have any problems after admitting it to Dom and, more importantly, himself? And how does he handle telling everyone else?

Self-delusion is my drug of choice, too! Seriously, though. They say that quitting smoking is harder than quitting heroin, but I think quitting self-delusion would win in a head-to-head competition.
Thanks for your feedback!
