Oh, lovely. I really like the idea of them left alone together and of Katherine, in her own way, reaching out to Elena.

when she gives up the notion of going after them and retreats to there instead.

I love the word choice of retreats and all it implies, and that both women had the same impulse. Both the ways in which they are similar and the ways in which they are very different are so fascinating to me.

There is something so extroadinary about the dynamic between these two and (as difficult as I know it must be for ND!) I would love to see it exploted a little more fully in the show*.
