Just, the contrast of his pathetic hopeful dreams of a life with her with the way she sees him and them and just all the Katherine-ness of it all, it's just...ouch and wow and amazing.

This destroys me:

SO, look, I was saving this for when I had written fic of my own (and I am still saving the other one) but I BROKE. And this was FLAWLESS and I LOVED IT. Nobody is surprised.

I LOVE that Katherine's already thinking about Stefan messing up her hair again even as Damon's falling asleep. And that Damon has their future all planned out and you just KNOW that she rolls her eyes at it because that's not who she is any more you fool.

AND BASCIALLY YES. She is all sharp corners and he's marshmallow and baby, SHE'LL ONLY RIP YOUR HEART OUT.

Writing this made me super nostaglic for 1864/Season One Damon and thinking of his ties with Katherine reminded me why I used TO LOVE HIM SO.
