This is awesome, I loved the duality of Elena feeling the outsider and yet knowing she won't ever be refused.

Oh, my heart. Which is now broken into billions of teeny tiny little pieces. I think that I may just have run out of superlatives for this. Everything about it is beautiful. I love the imagery of Elena being alone even though they're always there, and the way that D/S/K are a perfect triangle and she just feels like the extra part. The parallels you draw between her and Kat are so truthy.

PS. I had a lump in my throat at the end. NO LIE.

Thank you! I know the show makes it seem like the D/K/S connection is nothing more than a blip on the radar but, I refuse steadfastly to believe that! And I guess, I also refuse to believe Elena could ever hope to be 'happy' and 'settled' in a normal life/relationship either from this point. So yeah, while I don't want her turned on the show any time soon (or, perhaps, ever!), I do like exploring the options in fic (it's much easier to take back here!).

Right there, you caught my attention. I wasn't sure, considering your aversion to SEXY TIMES! where this would go, but here is where I decided I didn't care.

Damon is too busy watching Katherine, whose liquid gaze never wanders further than Stefan's periphery, to notice that his brother's attention is all his to hold. She feels little more than a spectator to their equilateral triangle.

I loved how you described Elena's feelings and the parallel between her and katherine.

I think there's much more between Kath/Stefan/Damon than the show gives us and you fill that hole perfectly.
