We will be making one of my zombie babies! Yay! I find girls are easier to make into zombies, I don't know why, but they just kind of are, I'm not saying you can't make a boy zombie if you like I'm more throwing it out there are as to why all my zombies are girls. We'll be going from

to

This tutorial is NOT dial-up friendly.

First take your base dupliate it and set it to Screen 100%. Duplicate it again, desaturate (Image > Adjustments > Desaturate), Auto Levels (Image > Adjustments > Auto Levels) and fade the Auto levels to 50% (Edit > Fade Auto Levels) then set this layer to Soft Light 100%

This is your final base image, press CTRL+ALT+SHIFT+E

Next it's time to use the often ignored tools on the tool bar, the Burn Tool and the even more neglected, the Dodge Tool. Which can be found here:

Around her eyes, mostly under and in the corners of them, use your burn tool (5px brush, midtones 50) then switch to your dodge tool. With a round soft brush go over the places that catch light on the human face (nose, forehead, cheak bones and chin) which leaves you with something like this: (do all of this on the layer you just CTRL+ALT+SHIFT+E'd on)

Now for her eyes, you can either use the lasso tool to select the iris of the eyes, or you can just use a brush, brushes are easier. On a new layer over the iris of the eyes use A13F3F and set the layer to Color Dodge 80%. You could call the eyes good at this point, but I like a bit of depth to them, so using 922C2C on a new layer go around the outsides of the iris and set the layer to Overlay 100% which gives you the red spooky eyes.

On a new layer with one of the textured brushes that are preset into photoshop (you can pic, it doesn't matter) with 7B922C put it around the face, it doesn't matter where, as long as there is some texture on the face now. Set this layer to Color Burn 30%

On another new layer with a different texture brush in 9CAA6D go in other places on the face (the whole face doesn't have to be covered) set this layer to Color Burn 30%

Press CTRL+ALT+SHIFT+E

Now for the hair, on this new layer that once again, you CTRL+ALT+SHIFT+E'd go to Image > Adjustments > Variations.

Press Darker twice, Green 3 times, Red 2 times, Cyan 2 times, Magenta 1 time. Now go to Saturation on the same menu, side the slider over to fine and press More Saturation 2 times. Press okay. Using your polygonal lasso, lasso out the hair, now we'll use a layer mask. This can be found on your layer pallet (yellow) and should turn that layer into something that looks like the layer selected in blue.

Now you have to clean up your lines, using your brush tool you can add or take away from the color you just added. Black takes away color and white adds color. So once you've cleaned up the hair, you have something like this:

Set this layer to Color 100%

Press CTRL+ALT+SHIFT+E

Now to make the cuts there are a million ways you could do this, but because I'm really lazy and really don't feel like writing this all out, I'm going to provide you with cut brushes that you can use yourself. You can put these brushes anywhere you want on your zombie, the colors I use most for the cuts are:

95501E
73210A
BA5C43
955B16
953416
D8DA56

Mess around with blending options too, I use Color Burn and Linear Burn the most, but just go with what looks the best to you. Remember also to play with the opacitys.

Here are some brushes (not by me, these are by PrettyBrush on DeviantArt, I can't find the link, but as soon as I do I'll have it up)

Now to make these into brushes on photoshop simply right click on the image, press copy, go to photoshop, press New and okay, then press CTRL+V and your image will appear, now to make them into brushes simply do this:

It will ask you to name it, you don't have to, just press okay and it should appear in your brush list. Now you can change it's color and size and what not. This is what I ended up with:

Press CTRL+ALT+SHIFT+E

Now you can touch up the picture to your liking, I added some more burn around her eyes, some purple to make them look swolen. I also added some dark green and brown to her hair. A tip to more reaslitic cuts, go around the edges with your burn tool, it will make them look sunken. Feel free to play around with it, add things to your liking. This is what I ended with:
