2009 Debutantes Blog Tour

My blog will be a regular sweet stop on the

2009 Debutantes Blog Tour

and here today is the fabuloso stacey_jay!!

Stacey Jay is a workaholic with three pen names, four kids, and a decidedly macabre sense of humor. She loves zombies, creepies, crawlies, blood, guts, gore, and of course, romance. "You are So Undead to Me", Stacey's debut paranormal Young Adult Romance featuring Zombie Settler, Megan Berry will be a January 22nd 2009 release from Razorbill books.

(Yeah, we're imprint sisters. Woot!!)

Megan Berry's social life is so dead. Literally. Fifteen-year-old Megan Berry is a Zombie Settler by birth, which means she's part-time shrink to a bunch of dead people. All Megan wants is to be normal--and go to homecoming. But someone in school is using black magic to turn average, angsty Undead into flesh-eating Zombies, and it's looking like homecoming will turn out to be a very different kind of party--the bloody kind.

Stacey, being the cool chick she is, has indulged me with answers to a few of my questions.

If you had a time machine and could go back to the early days of your writing career and give yourself one piece of advice, what would it be?

If you're not having fun, the reader isn't going to be having fun. Don't be afraid to take a break and then come back to a manuscript at a later date.

If you weren't a writer, what would you want to be (or what do you think you would be), career-wise?

I've been an actor, a dancer, and a writer so far. I think, if I had a different job, I'd have to do something where my work would be judged in a less subjective way. So maybe I would bag groceries? I'm really not being silly, I love bagging groceries and I think I would kick ass at it if I do say so myself. It's so soothing and appeals to the organized side of my nature and I'd get to be nosey and see what everyone else is buying. And, when I left work, it would stay at work and not follow me home on my computer, lol. That would be nice for a change!

What did you do to celebrate your book deal? Pop some champagne? Extravagant purchase? Dinner out? Pizza delivery?

I had a couple of bottles of wine with my hubs and then booked my husband, me, and the two older girls a trip to Disneyworld. We had a great time and it was so good to have the chance to get the girls there without the younger kids. That way we got to give them a level of attention we can't when the babies are in tow.

Great questions, thanks for having me over to your blog Kristin!
