I survived round 2 in the cave. I still have line edits to go, I think. I don't know. I just do what I'm told.
On the family coolness front, my brother and his wife had twin baby girls! And I was there for the first week of their lives. SOOO cool. And although I love my boys, I am a bit jealous of having daughters (oh, the clothes!). And the babies have a big brother, too, so the girl thing is being hugely celebrated by our family, especially inside my mother's little internal universe.
On the Olympics front, is there anyone cuter than Shawn Johnson? I'm thrilled that she won her well-deserved GOLD tonight (or whenever it actually happened). Women's gymnastics was a fairy-tale this year. It couldn't have been scripted better, don't you think? Okay, so Nastia should've won gold on the uneven parallel bars, but we won't go into that.
SO according to my pal,
mandywriter , we're going to need our dedications, acknowledgements, and author pics for Razorbill soon. Well, it just so happens that I got my hair done for the first time in *cough-cough* eight months. So I plastered on some makeup and had my DH take some pics. Unfortunately, I am the most unphotogenic woman on Earth. He took over 60 shots, but there were really only about 5 that I could stomach.
But instead of showing you the gold medal winner, I thought I'd treat you to the pictures that never made it to the finals. Or preliminaries. Or first-cuts back in the local pony-league. Okay, let's just call them the hideous losers they are.
(Below is exactly what my grandmother would look like if she came back as a zombie.)
(DH likes this one. Any guesses why? Well, helloooo Dolly.)
Terrifying. The flash is not my friend.
And those weren't even the ones I deleted as soon as I laid eyes on them.
