The end is really interesting. Ling'er seems weak and someone others feel like they need to take care of while Mason is pretty independent and knows his way around life at this point. I'm interested to learn more about the characters.

First - thank you for reading and commenting.

Ling'er seems weak and someone others feel like they need to take care of

There is a reason for that, but I'm not sure if I want to give that away just yet. She is the youngest, but it isn't just because she's young. There's something wrong there. (Of course, there's something wrong with all of them. Really should have gone to counseling after Chan-wook took them in.)

Mason is pretty independent and knows his way around life at this point.

Mm, yes. Sure, he's always on the run, but he also knows how to stay alive. He really could make it on his own, but he stays around for Ling'er.

I hope you'll enjoy reading about the other characters, as well as the farther stories of these characters.

I assumed that Ling'er's frailty was in part because of her youth. And there's nothing wrong with characters who are always on the run. For some reason I like Mason from the little I read about him and while he seems to have a bad guy vibe to him, there's also something endearing to him, mostly that he cares for Ling'er.

Chan-wook seems a little weird to me but all characters that would benefit from counseling usually win me over at some point.

Part of Ling'er's frailty is the youth. When Chan-wook found her in Hong Kong, there were some things going on. I'm honestly trying not to give anything away, but she can get confused easily and does need looking after.

Oh, I love Mason. It's odd to say that about a character I created, but I like his 'bad boy with a softer side' vibe. He will beat you up and steal your money, but he also cares for Ling'er and takes great pains to make sure she's okay. When he's not on the run.

Chan-wook is weird. I want to write about when he first picked up all the kids - that show's a softer and more normal side. But, he is a weird middle-aged man who lived too rough in his youth and now it's coming back on him.

All my characters could use some counseling, so they'll win you over. I just finished a Taka piece, that I'll be posting later. Now she could really use some counseling. . . and maybe a hug. Not that she'd actually hug back.
