Room 217, Sunday Afternoon

Jun 21, 2009 13:43

This was one of those days that was just exceedingly hard on Savannah. It never got easier and it never ceased to make her curl up and cry by the time night fell.

That would be why she had thrown herself into cleaning the room and it really was the cleanest that the dorm room had probably ever been. The floors and surfaces actually shined after ( Read more... )

Johnny watched her, never saying much while she seemed to attack the room with every cleaning supply under the sun. He assumed he knew why, but didn't want to bother her. There was no way he wanted to make her feel more depressed and anything he could possibly say, just might do that. Hell, just looking at him might do it for her. He was leaving in a week. This wasn't easy.

He was sitting on the bed with a sports magazine he wasn't reading; his eyes were on her and they would remain there until she felt like talking to him.

[So sorry hon for the late ping. Father's Day ate my entire day.]

Savannah seemed to be lost in her own world as she worked in her sketch book. She knew that Johnny was there, and was grateful to have him there with her for today. It was a topic that she didn't like talking about and try as she might, she couldn't get it to go to the back of her mind where it always was.

Finally, after filling almost all of her sketchbook with various images, she felt it come on harder than ever. The pencil and book slipped from her fingers onto the floor and bent her face over her knees as the tears started.

"I'm sorry, Kristof." Her voice was barely a whisper, but Johnny probably had no trouble hearing her.

[[No worries, love. Was cleaning and then in bed with pain.]]

He didn't, no. He frowned at what she said and he slipped off the bed and was at her side in a heartbeat. "Sweetheart," he spoke gently, and wrapped his arm around her shoulders, trying to draw her in against him.

He had no problem drawing her in and she leaned against him, while the tears were moving down her cheeks. It was no big secret that Savannah had a hard time with this day, but Johnny was one of the few that had any idea why.
