o/` "You and I the whole day long
Can't you hear it, rising spirit
It's like a wild violin,
You try to lose it, in the music
Of the moment that you're in." o/`

You're welcome! I was hesitant because I didn't want folks to think that I'm a drug user, but I thought the experience to be so unique and sacred I could share it.

I love my datura; they're beautiful flowers, as are many of the plants reputed to have psychogenic properties. That's the reason I keep them.

Without my plants, I would probably go crazy. I love looking at them when I have work to do in the office. They're wonderfully reviving when I'm confined to the couch and can't look at much.

This was a fascinating description of the ceremony and the personal effect the peyote had on you.

As I said, I don't experiment. Too much respect for the plants and the religions which use them. I do love their beauty and I was very grateful to have such wonderful friends to help me out.

Definitely wouldn't recommend it for fun. The purge definitely isn't :D

Sounds like a weird but fascinating procedure to go through!

Minus the physical purge, I'd compare it to a finely tuned deep meditation. From what I've read since in Frazer and other authors who documented shamanic practices, it's close to that.

I can't say I enjoyed it but I'm grateful.

How interesting to get an insider's view of this ceremony.

In retrospect, I felt the same way. When it happened, I was terrified. The medicine man made absolutely certain I knew what would be happening and at the time, the peyote ceremonies were still illegal.

I don't know if I would do it again but it was a worthy experience.
