Thank you! You know, of course, that he eventually ended up following that intuition which turned out to be the right thing rather than a disaster.

He's still an ass on occasion, though :D

You've read a lot of the other public entries so you know that we had a long way to go before reaching any kind of accord. He left me several times; I told him to rot in hell and never come back. Now he lives with me.

And he's still an ass :D

On occasion I still have to threaten to kick the man's teeth in, but things are better now that he lives here. I never actually tried to stop him from being an ass, I just changed the kind of ass he was :D

You know it! He never says anything about being my lover unless he's mad; the entire time we've been together he's mentioned it twice and it was because someone slighted me.

I guess the reason it works is because I never demanded he change; I just made it less desirable for him to be an ass to me.

It has a happy ending. Granted, it took him getting shot nearly fatally and the subsequent illness for us to get us together, but it works.

He's unlikely to have the urge to leave again and if he does...I'll wait as always. The reason it works so well is that I didn't ask him to change. Knowing that, he's less inclined to run away in fright.
