Is he depressed or is he a mess?
Does he feel totally worthless?
Who came up with person man?
Degraded man, person man

Triangle man, triangle man
Triangle man hates person man
They have a fight, triangle wins

That's pretty awesome. Giving the inside baseball on something that we (most of us) take massively for granted is quite useful.

Thank you! I'm glad that you liked the entry. I don't play sports at all, so it took me quite a while to find an angle for this week's topic.

I have been privy to quite a bit of goings on on the admin side of websites and it's a job (or hobby, most likely) that I don't envy. Takes the patience of a saint.

(In unrelated news, my friend and I had a dance to Particle Man when I was about 12, and now I can't see any of the lyrics or hear any of the music without doing some if it.)

It certainly wasn't what I was looking for when I decided to play on the site, but I like contributing to something I consider worthwhile.

That song dates back to my college days. I don't remember what we were doing to it, but it always makes me smile...and it seems pretty apt for the situation.

I really enjoyed this - I've not much idea about what goes on behind the scenes but I certainly appreciate the hard work and complexity you describe. Especially considering that on forums, people seem to forget the manners they would normally use IRL... I don't think I'd have the patience to keep the peace!

Sometimes it's very trying. In addition to remembering that as a moderator I can't lose my temper, I also have to keep in mind that some of these people are merely children and just don't have the experience needed to post well in a debate forum.

Thanks for taking the time to read and comment, it's appreciated.

I just started moderating a large forum in the last year (by default - the old moderator vanished and the site owner asked me) and I'm amazed at how challenging it is to fight spam. I've had to learn a ton of things about the guts of vBulletin. Worth it, in the end, but more work than I ever intended to do

Exactly. Things are starting to settle now as people get over the novelty of the new forum and learn how to apply the rules, which are a little more strict than for the rest of the site.

It's more work than I wanted to do, but I think it's worth it to ensure something wonderful stays that way.
