I shoulda learned to rope and ride

This was hilarious! I was in therapuetic riding in preschool, and the only thing I remember is riding the horse backwards?! I have no clue, but that's what I remember! Not sure what that was all about though. Great entry!

Sometimes, with the smaller children, they will put them on backwards so that the horse's head doesn't intimidate them. I've also seen some carrying devices for children who have poor muscle control who will ride backwards. It's possibly your horse was outfitted as such.

Great work as always. : )

Imagining a rider yelling at a horse's ass is hysterical!

I still to this day don't understand why the horse didn't buck him off. The horse had obviously been abused and wasn't broken to saddle well...and my dad had some of the tail in his hands thinking it was the reins.

Yes, he does. It's one of my favorites because of the various references to an old favorite television show, my favorite classic country singers, and my beloved Texas Rangers. In this case, it sums my dad's life perfectly. He really wished he was cowboy and he tried hard, but you can't take the New York out of a city boy, I guess.

He later ended up being a fine rider. My dad had a gift for abused and abandoned animals which he used to his advantage. Comanche never would be ridden by anyone else but he behaved like a lamb for my father.
