This was well written, hope of getting something you want in a partner, etc.... but, as I asked another idol contestant who used the word, what is polyamourous (spelling?)... I am embarrassed to ask these questions, as I don't want to get the wrong impression that I am dumb!

Polyamorous means, literally, "many loves". We're capable of loving more than one person as a spouse, lover, confidante, etc. For me, it's a bit like having my best friend ever, only closer. Like family. I care for her the same way I do my husband.

Sex is NOT always a component in these relationships. My girlfriend and I, for instance, have never yet had sexual relations. We may never, and that's all right too. It doesn't change the dynamics of the situation.

Hopefully that makes sense.

I love reading your posts and always look forward to them. It's so nice to see a family that is making it work.

Such a great post. :)

Believe me, I never thought it would work out this way. She's everything we ever wanted and we suit her just fine. I think the best relationships always start with friendship first.

Thanks for reading!

Thank you. I was worried about this one because so many details had to be obscured or skimmed over but it looks like I got it just right.

I loved the journey of this entry: to love, how it comes when it is needed, and only when it can be most appreciated

(by this I mean when people have never had heartache or a hard time with love, they truly do not understand it's blessing and value)

I consider it the most blessed thing in my life. I really had given up all hope before these two made their appearance. I feel almost selfish, having two people who love me so dearly when others haven't even found their first.

I'm so glad you found her. It's like finding a part of your heart you hadn't realized was missing yes?

That's exactly what it's like. The funny part is, Dorie had been thinking about a relationship with us from the first time we roomed together but neither of us said anything. She didn't think I was bisexual and I didn't think she was either.

Now that we've got it all sorted out it's like my heart is full to bursting.

It's a wonderful feeling. If you read my post about my Lily this week... every day she's worming her way into my heart just a bit more - and we haven't even had our first real date yet.

I just broke down in tears a few minutes ago, totally unexpectedly, without any trigger that I was aware of. When I sent her a text asking her to call me when she got a chance so I could hear her voice... she called in five minutes and is currently checking to see what time her husband works tomorrow so she can drive down to see me.

Three hour drive, after a full day of work, just because I was crying. And I didn't ask.

I don't care what $deity one believes in, but $someone finally decided that I deserve a girly girlfriend in addition to the not romantic but adorable one I've got now.

Exactly. Mine is a nine hour drive away but if I needed her, she'd be on the first plane out of there...and she's afraid of flying.

I'm looking forward to seeing what wonders this relationship can open between us. I've never had a romantic girlfriend.

It helps that the husband loves her too. He's thoroughly besotted. You can tell when he starts asking questions like "What should I wear?" and "How about a salad for dinner, I don't want to get fat". You'd think HE was the girl.
