oh, life is bigger

So I've been watching the extended editions of Lotr, and it's reminding me of watching those movies in theaters. Once, for Fellowship, I was in Austin and misskittye, pinkytx and I (along with several others who don't have ljs) went to the Drafthouse. I ended up on the end of the line next to pinkytx and around the time that Aragorn is leaning over Boromir saying "be at ( Read more... )

DUDE. First, we're partways through watching Return of the King, and I just started reading Return of the King. I'm so swallowed up in it I swear it feels like the movies just came out. And RotK came out in 2003. 2003. I remember us both gaping horrified at the screen during TT when Faramir TOOK THEM TO GONDOR, and I REMEMBER THE SNORTING. BECAUSE IT WAS SO DAMN FUNNY.

Oh how I MISS it. Even when the Hobbit frenzy hits full force, it won't be the same. No Billy and Dom=sad.

Oh, but I just watched the commentary on Return of the King (for the FIRST TIME) and nearly DIED with love. Especially when John Rhys Davies describes and acts out elf farts, and Billy and Dom talk about NOTHING and crack me the hell up.

YOU+ME+LOTR+STARBUCKS=PERFECT.

I watched FotR on Sunday, TTT on Tuesday, and RotK today. This viewing was all about my massive love for Theoden. Especially the bit in RotK when he's standing in front of the Rohirrim doing his rousing speech. I CRIED so stinking much.

Dude, I have talked to so many people recently that never bothered to watch the extended editions and it makes me kind of sad. Why not? Why are you not watching? They are PERFECT! The most amazing movies in the world!

I've started reading my editions that are illustrated by Alan Lee. And I finally found the bit in Tolkien's letters where he says that mortals don't live forever in the Undying Lands, that the Valar don't have the power to give immortality to mortals. Oh, Frodo.

Whits! I miss the days of us having time to hang out and watch LotR! Back when LotR was in theaters!

I know!!!

You know, I saw Fellowship so many times I still remember exactly which scenes were extended/new, but by the time I get to Return of the King I have a LOT of trouble remembering. I saw that one the least amount of times in the theater, because it takes such a huge emotional/time committment to go through it.

Remember all our debates about Faramir? All our iconning? Rolling our eyes at Arwen? Hearing Pippin sing (by that time wasn't it around 3:00 in the morning?). Oh man, I am so glad I got to experience those films with you. I'll never forget it.

I had the most amount of trouble remembering in TTT. I saw all of them an equal number of times, but the TTT was the one that made me roll my eyes the most, because of FARAMIR, so I guess I paid the least amount of attention. I have all the theatrical releases, maybe some day when I'm feeling especially nerdy I can watch the theatrical release and then the extended edition back to back. Someday when I'm feeling nerdy and I have the time. :D

Icons! Omg, I remember the icons. And the posters! And going to Walmart at ass o'clock in the morning so we could get the soundtrack, because we didn't want to be ruined BEFORE the movie. Breakfast tacos after TTT so we could sit and absorb. I'm glad I got to share those movies with you too. And Starbucks.

I'm feeling all meeeeeeeeeeemmmmooooorrriiiiiiiieeeeees. I LOVE YOU, WHITS!

This post totally made me miss my foray into LoTR fandom and the hours I spent listening to the cast commentaries for all 3 movies. And then the all day movie marathon when Return of the King came out was a blast.

Oh man, and then the extended edition marathon when all of those were available. And all the hours watching the extras. Looooooove.

Yeah yeah, back in 2002 I was surfing in net to find any info about the movie and I unexpectedly found out livejournal! :D I didn't have any idea about blog sites before. Huh, happy memories!

It's great when there's something making you happy after so many years. (Almost six or seven?)

Haha, I got into lj through NSync, and their music still makes me happy after 8 years. :) I mean, not crazily happy like it did at first, but I do enjoy it. :)
