Summary : Mookie & Earl get marriedddddddd <3
Author's Notes : I know that weddings done by a JP don't usually have someone doing a reading but idc. I wanted someone to do a reading. ALSO. l IDKWHY BUT EARL IS JEWISH. DEAL WITH IT.

ALSO;
I totally forgot about, like, describing the scenery, cause that was already in the RP thread, so, uhm, HERE, HAVE A HALF-FINISHED RP THREAD unless the mods make me friends-lock it again..
Also. the fic kinda just.. starts. cause it is sorta continued from the thread. It'd be worth it to read the thread first. Just don't comment there, please.

It also just kind of ..ends, too. Lol. I'm sorry.

Shortly after Drew and Gary have left, Mookie's mother pokes her head back into the room, and says, "It's time." The teen stands up slowly from the sofa that he was sitting on, and smoothes the wrinkles in his clothes. He follows his mother out into the hall, and then outside. They'd decided that there would be no traditional bridal march, and instead of having the groom waiting at the altar for his 'bride', they would both meet at the beginning of the aisle and walk down together. Drew, Gary, Mookie's brothers Nathan and Darcy, and Earl's band mates Rory and Joe are waiting at the altar, in the spots where the bridesmaids and best man would 'normally' be, and the Justice of the Peace is also standing at the center of the altar.

They had enlisted one of Mookie's younger cousins to be their flower girl and as Mookie walks into the yard, he hears the pianist begin to play an instrumental version of Hedley's "Trip", and sees the child start bouncing down the aisle throwing rose petals every which way, and finally stopping when she reaches the men standing at the altar, and taps Drew's leg. Drew smiles, and bends down, and the girl places a handful of rose petals into his hands, then kisses his cheek and runs back to her mother. Drew straightens, and flicks a petal at Gary, who catches it, then leans in and kisses Drew's lips lightly.

Mookie's mother kisses his cheek lightly, and then goes off to sit with their family and Mookie slowly steps towards the beginning of the aisle to wait for Earl. Earl walks out of the house a moment later, joined by his father, who gives him a pat on the back, then goes to take his seat next to Earl's already-crying mother. Earl meets Mookie's gaze and smiles, and then walks over to join him, taking the teen's hand into his own. The simple contact causes both of their hands to tingle slightly, and with Earl finally standing next to him, Mookie feels all of his nervousness and anxiety melt away.

The two walk, hand in hand, down the aisle, past a wide variety of friends and family, some crying, some smiling, other's looking like they'd rather not be there, until they reached the altar. They turn to face each other, but neither man lets go of the other's hand. Mookie is tempted to kiss Earl right then and there, but he knows that it's not supposed to go like that.

The JP steps closer to the two men, and starts to address the guests. "Friends, and loved ones, you are gathered here today to bear witness to the lawful union of Peter Morris and Earl Stevenson." Without really moving, his body language shifts just enough to make it known that he is now addressing the grooms. "Today you celebrate one of life's greatest moments and give recognition to the worth and beauty of love as you join together in vows of marriage. To make your marriage work will take love. And therefore, love should be the core of your marriage, just as love is the reason that you are here. Along with love, it will also take trust - to know in your hearts that you want the best for each other. It will take dedication - to stay open to one another, to learn and to grow together even when this is not always easy to do. It will take faith - to always be willing to go forward to tomorrow, never really knowing what tomorrow will bring. It will take honesty - to assure that the darkness of lies and secrets will never cause you to falter. And it will take commitment - to hold true to the journey you both now pledge to share together."

Mookie watches Earl, and listens as the JP speaks. He shivers slightly, even though he isn't cold, and tries to stop his hand from shaking. Earl squeezes the teen's hand comfortingly, and smiles at him, mouthing the words 'you're beautiful', which makes Mookie blush, and look down for a split second.

"I bid you to speak your vows."

As the JP speaks, Drew and Gary look on with interest. The two men entwine their hands and prepare for the tears to start flowing from Gary.

"It's taken me a while to really understand what love means, but now I understand. To me, love isn't just saying you want to spend the rest of your life with someone, it's showing that you do." He smiles, and meets the teen's gaze. "It's about taking the time to make sure that person knows that, no matter what, they're the most important person in your life. And that's what I intend to do. When I asked you to marry me, it just wasn't a spur of a moment thing. It was saying that I want to spend the rest of my life with you and only you. I love you, Mookie Morris."

Mookie can't help the tears that start to fall from his eyes as Earl speaks. He holds onto Earl's hand tighter, and wipes at his tears with his free hand. He stifles a whimper, and tries to compose himself when the JP gestures to him to speak his own vows.

"I screwed up once, and when I asked you why you forgave me, you said simply 'because that's what love is'," he starts, and upon hearing this, Drew looks down awkwardly and waits for Mookie to continue. "I didn't entirely understand at the time, but I do now. Love isn't just accepting someone on their good days, nor is it giving up on someone when things take a wrong turn. On this day, I, Peter Morris, give myself to you, and only to you, Earl Stevenson, in every way. I promise to love you and be with you through everything; the joy and the sorrow, through the highs and the lows, during failure and success, during sickness, and during good health. I promise to love you every second of every day from today forward, and to never stray from the path of our love."

Earl is silent for a second, and then lets the tears form at his eyes. He wraps his fingers with Mookie's and smiles. The two look over in the direction of Mookie's mom who is pretty much sobbing into her husband's shoulder.

The crowd falls silent for a moment, save for the sniffles and sobs of some of the guests, and Deidre stands, and slowly approaches the altar. She steps up to a podium with a mic that is positioned on the right side of the altar, then clears her throat, and begins to speak. "It took me a while to really figure out what to read for you all today, considering the religious barriers that prevent a reading from scripture," she pauses for a moment, and takes a calming breathe, blinking away the tears in her eyes, then continues, "But I believe that I finally found the perfect reading. It's from "Gift From The Sea" by Anne Morrow Lindberg."

She pauses again, looking down at the paper sitting on the podium, then continues, "When you love someone, you do not love them all the time, in exactly the same way, from moment to moment. It is an impossibility. It is even a lie to pretend to. And yet this is exactly what most of us demand. We have so little faith in the ebb and flow of life, of love, of relationships. We leap at the flow of the tide and resist in terror its ebb. We are afraid it will never return. We insist on permanency, on duration, on continuity; when the only continuity possible, in life as in love, is in growth, in fluidity - in freedom, in the sense that the dancers are free, barely touching as they pass, but partners in the same pattern. The only real security is not in owning or possessing, not in demanding or expecting, not in hoping, even. Security in a relationship lies neither in looking back to what was in nostalgia, nor forward to what it might be in dread or anticipation, but living in the present relationship and accepting it as it is now. Relationships must be like islands, one must accept them for what they are here and now, within their limits - islands, surrounded and interrupted by the sea, and continually visited and abandoned by the tides." She stumbles over the words a few times, pausing on occasion to re-focus, and smiles through her tears. When she finishes, she looks down at the tear-spattered page, and wipes the tears from her face, and takes a deep breath before looking at Mookie and Earl, noticing that they, too, are crying silently. "Thank you," she whispers almost inaudibly, and steps away from the podium, heading back to her seat.

"A lovely reading at any wedding," the JP comments, with a smile toward Deidre. He turns to Mookie, and gives him an encouraging smile as the teen wipes his eyes on the tissue that Gary had just handed to him. He waits a moment before asking, "Do you Peter, take Earl to be your lawful wedded husband?"

Mookie nods, and tries to wipe the rest of the tears away but they keep falling. "I do."

"Will you love, respect and honour him throughout your years together?"

"I Will."

"Do you promise to love and cherish him, in sickness and in health, for richer or for poorer, for better or for worse, and forsaking all others, keep yourself only unto him, for so long as you both shall live?"

The teen's gaze moves away from the JP, and he looks at Earl, meeting his eyes. "I do."

The JP nods, and turns toward Earl.

"Do you Earl, take Peter to be your lawful wedded husband?"

Earl stares into Mookie's eyes for a long moment, before looking at the JP and stating, "I do."

"Will you love, respect and honour him throughout your years together?"

"I Will," he responds, squeezing Mookie's hand that he still hasn't let go of.

"Do you promise to love and cherish him, in sickness and in health, for richer or for poorer, for better or for worse, and forsaking all others, keep yourself only unto him, for so long as you both shall live?"

"I do."

The JP nods to him, and says simply, "You may now exchange rings."

Earl whispers a 'thank you', and smiles as Rory passes him a thin wedding band, and he lifts Mookie's hand. He blinks back tears for a moment, before looking back into Mookie's eyes. As he slides the ring onto the teen's finger, he speaks softly, saying, "Harey at mekuddeshet li b'taba'at zo k'dat Moshe v'Israel," and Mookie doesn't even need to know what it means to know that its perfect. Earl bends down and kisses Mookie's hand, then straightens, and repeats the phrase, only this time it's in English. "Behold, thou art consecrated unto me with this ring according to the Law of Moses and of Israel." He smiles, and then adds quietly, for Mookie's ears only, "I love you."

Mookie can feel the tears running down his cheeks, but he doesn't bother to wipe them away. Instead, when Earl nods to say that he's done, Mookie takes Earl's ring from Drew with shaking hands and swallows hard. "I gi..", Mookie chokes over a sob, and pauses before starting over, "I give you this ring as ..a s-symbol of my love; and with all that I am and a..all that I have, I honour you, in the n-name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the H-Holy Spirit."

"I now pronounce you husband and husband. You may now kiss your partner." The words have barely left the JP's mouth before Earl pulls Mookie towards him by the hand he is still holding, and presses his lips to the teen's. He wraps one arm around the teen's waist, and the other hand automatically slides up Mookie's back, pulling him closer as Earl deepens the kiss.

Drew coughs and whispers out, "Guys, wedding. In public," to Gary's soft chuckle.

Earl pulls apart and smiles at Mookie. "I love you."

"I love you, too" the teen whispers back as the pianist starts playing again, and the member of the wedding party walk back to the house, having rice showered over them by the guests, something Mookie had, grudgingly, agreed to after his mother begged him.
