I always crop my icons using the three-of-rule cropping grid
I think I do the same thing. I didn't give it much thought until now. I actually think it plays a part in almost every artistic thing I do. Chris will sometimes ask me why I'm worrying about placement when I'm drawing something. He's obviously not an artist, lol.

Anyway, this is a great tutorial, love. :D

lol yeah, I was confused at first how the black didn't darken the rest of the icon then I realized (aka actually read the line lol) and saw it was just there for our benefit haha
