Another counselling appointment last Wednesday. I didn't have any sparkly moments of self-realisation this time, but the counsellor did suggest that she'd like to refer me for psychotherapy which is interesting in itself. That is an excellent book. I hope he'll put out an updated edition soon, not least because a friend swiped my copy.

I think he put out an updated version of it in hardback last year, so I imagine it'll be turning up in paperback any time now. The one I'm reading is the original version, but even at that it's been a real eye-opener. I always knew that my history books were leaving significant things out, but I never realised how much they twisted the truth.

'Lies my Teacher Taught Me'is great. A fun book that's been around awhile is 'One Night Stands with American History.' Not the same, but interesting trivia.

Thanks! I'll have to keep an eye out for that one. My reading list is about five miles long at the moment, but that looks like it would be a light enough read. :o)

There's a really good book by Eric Foner called 'The Story of American Freedom' which looks at how the idea of freedom iin the US has been reshaped and reused for so many different reasons. It was published in the late 1990s - an updated version of that would be so relevant right now.
