running commentary

We've had a bit of a cold snap here, meaning the temperature occasionally dips below freezing; combined with the wind chill and the sudden showers of hail. I've decided that discretion is the better part of not freezing to death in pursuit of a sub-23-minute 5k lap.

Indeed. I agree that it would seem wise to take a break for a beer if it starts to hail or your legs feel cold. (Are you allowed to splice the times either side of the beer break together?)

Well, there aren't any actual rules, but if I were being competitive then I'd have to include the beer time in the tally. Which would REALLY drag my average down. Up. You get the idea.

Ah yes, the cold excuse. I keep forgetting that. It's going to be close to breaking the Jan 25/26 overnight record this evening. The current record stands at zero F, yup -17.78C, tonight and we are having a visit from our Arctic friend, The Chill, this evening. Makes this mornings 21F (-6C) seem like the damned tropics.
