I just got let go from my job. They said they decided to go in another direction. Meaning they wanted to hire someone with a degree in accounting. They knew when they hired me that I didn't have accounting experience. I'm kind of upset at how they handled this

I don't know how I possibly can. I'm already applying for everything that I'm qualified for, and, in fact, I'm overqualified for most of them. Problem is, so is everyone else. Relocating is out of the question right now-- I can't afford to live on my own at the salary I can command and the amount of debt I have. So I'm stuck in my parent's basement.

I've rewritten my resume. I've taken great pains on my cover letters. I've practiced interviewing. I've tried to network. But nothing has helped. At all.

That sucks. :( You should definitely be able to get some unemployment, right? I thought they've been extending it into infinity.

That is terrible and majorly blows!!!
I'm sorry you're having to deal with this, especially given our economy right now. When I was unemployed I was scared out of my mind (still have yet to receive a single cent from the unemployment commission, because it is run my incompetent tools. Supposedly I'm receiving money next week for unemployment in june and july... grrr...)

Start searching right now for another job! (Which you probably know, but hey- just in case.)

I'm so sorry, Emily. I wish I knew of a job at my work or my husband's. My daughter Sarah might have something, but as far as I know, they are only hiring temp workers at her company until Christmas. If someone quits, the temp workers get first shot, but it's not great work. I think it's only 10 an hour anyway.
