We've got this engineering decathlon at my school. During one of the events, while we were using these really fine-metal hooks to build a long chain that could support its own weight over an extremely long span, someone put in some tension where there should have been done and the thing kind of... exploded
( ... )
With my luck, the parrot would pick out the other eye. We all know how I roll with animals.
There's no real bad feeling, except for the brief seconds between opening the eye and administering the eye drops. They actually do a pretty good job of soothing, at least until everything's tucked back in.
I've heard engineering students can be a bit exuberant. Safety goggle fail re: metal fragment, or did you casually brush your eye with the bit stuck to your hand?
I used to have a cat that got conjunctivitis. Had to smear this cream on eyeball beneath eyelid. If you think feeding a pill to a cat is hard, try putting in eyedrops without blinding the squirming thing. I assume you're a bit less of a problem!
Not quite sure regarding the mechanism by which I got the piece in my eye. Could have been brushing, could have just gotten in during the small explosion.

I kind of did that on purpose.

Duct tape, huh? Sounds like redneck velcro wall!
