Fun: Last night, I had a dream that included Jane Austen and mini-mech-walkers.

Not-fun: Now that California has decided to allow gay marriage, some CA towns have decided not to do any marriages at all. How is it that some people have so much hate?

I am more than a little peeved at your not-fun news. People need to suck it up and deal with it, instead of being such whiny little bitches over something that DOESN'T AFFECT THEM OR CAUSE ANY HARM TO ANYONE WHATSOEVER! Can we please just legalize it and move on with our lives? This should not even be an issue in a country that is so obsessed with "freedom." Your news sounds an awful lot like the kind of thing that happened when segregation was ending, when they would shut down schools rather than let black people in (retarded, much?).

Also, I heard a rumor about you and grad school.... Are you ok?

Well, I don't believe towns may individually recognize or reject marriages performed elsewhere in their state, nor would individual towns have any bearing on the legal benefits of marriage, so, screw 'em. As long as they're being universally discriminatory (not making exceptions based on genders of persons being wed), it just deprives them of the licensing fee while couples go to the next town over to get married. Or even just to be legally married, with the religious ceremony conducted in the offending town, anyway.

You KNOW that if I were in one of those California towns and planning to get married, that is exactly what I would do ... HUGE, very public, pseudo-religious "traditional" ceremony after a civil ceremony elsewhere. Of course, it would help the effect if I were gay. =P

That's actually a pretty cool idea. Guess you'll just have to move to one of those towns, marry a man, and prove them all wrong, Tom. Take one for the team!

You know, up until now I've been baffled as to how exactly gay marriage was supposed to 'destroy the sanctity of marriage.' Looks like where there's a will, there's a way.
