It is agonising, one story that I think hardly needs the touch of slash to reinforce its emotional punch. Oh, gosh, I read that yesterday and it about killed me.

I hesitate to recommend another BBC-verse fic to you, but, groveling appeasingly, let me suggest Greywash's "The Sensation of Falling as You Just Hit Sleep," which also takes seriously the damage done to John by Sherlock's apparent suicide. It's not much of a spoiler to say that John more or less loses his mind, and that the reunion is not easy.

I've always liked all her work, but I somehow missed this one and Mourning Woman. Excellent, I like missing and then finding good writing. *wanders off to not study*
