*It wasn't like she was all better... On the contrary her head is still reeling, and her ankle still throbs with every step she takes. But they are only minor injuries, nothing to remain in bed for the way a broken bone would be, and she needs to find her way home. There is still much to do, and Lord Lucien is counting on her to handle them ( ... )

[ Will turns a page in the odd book, frowning at the pages. There's a pattern to the language, even if he doesn't follow it yet, an underlying logic that seems familiar in a way Will can't quite place -- but place it he will, he's sure of that. There's something about the book --

Was that a footstep?

Will looks up, startled to see a woman and a dog approaching. The Watchtower was the last place Will expected company, well besides Persephone perhaps, and he stares a moment before thinking to get to his feet. He waits for them to draw into speaking range before greeting them. ]

Hallo. Or should that be good morning?

*Lily hesitates, resting her weight on her good leg uncertainly. After a moment she gives him a polite nod, it would be rude not to respond, and it was clearly his fire she was making for.*

Good morning, I believe, but 'hello' is acceptable too. *A faint line of worry appears behind her brows, and she tucks some of her brown hair behind her ear, a nervous habit.* I do not mean to intrude, but might I be allowed to warm myself at your fire?

*She hides her disappointment well, this youth is not the man she was hoping for but she could do nothing for that. If nothing else, the tower might well have a clue as to a cullis gate home. Or something.

Ebony lifts his ears slightly at Will's voice, smelling other dogs on him even from this distance. The tip of his tail wags just slightly, perhaps this human male could make a good packmate...*

[ This woman's the first Will's encountered in this strange abandoned world who hasn't seemed relieved to see another person -- well, Vorpal didn't really count there. As if this newest arrival's reserve wasn't interesting enough, she has a dog. Will almost forgets to be polite, holding his hand out to Ebony, before remembering himself. ]

Hello, boy -- ah. Sorry. Mind if I say hello?

[ Will grimaces, waving the woman towards the fire. ]

Of course. It's a bit cold out, isn't it?

[Since the goddess had left the city, she hadn't stopped running, not for sleep, not for anything, determined to find out more about the landscape. She had run across trees, old and tired and sleepy from winter, but they had spoken of ill omens when roused, though nothing discernable.

It wouldn't have been bad if it hadn't been for what the goddess ran into after she had left the village. The landscape? Was flat. Utterly flat and broke off into nothing but sky after a certain point. There had been nothing below and Persephone had tried to see, nearly killing herself dangling from a root.

And when the snow hit? She had decided it was time to go back to the city early.

Disgruntled, she ran down the path through the snow sometime late afternoon, ducking into the Watchtower. It wouldn't be long for Persephone to reach the city from her point, but the gloomy weather and not sleeping was taking a toll.]

[ She wasn't the only one within the tower, Will having given up on riding his bike back to the city while the snow fell so heavily. He's tucked in a corner, having forgotten the book for a moment, staring dreamily at the wall opposite with an expression his friends and family recognise with fond exasperation; gone again.

Persephone's footsteps echo very loudly in the empty tower, and Will starts, pulled from his thoughts abruptly. ]

Oh -- it's you.

[The look Persephone gives him could rival Medusa's on her worst day.]

'It's you?' Well I'm glad to see you, too.

[ Will grimaces ruefully as he stands; nope, not one of his best moves. ]

I wasn't expecting anyone else out here. It took me a moment to place you, Lady.
