Possibly my least favorite part of doing Aussie rescue: calling complete strangers and checking references for adoption apps. The up-side is that once they realize that (a) you're not calling to sell anything and (b) you just want to talk about their friend and how completely awesome said friend is with dogs, things smooth out very quickly. (
