Revamping...

I am tired. So damn tired.

This has been happening for awhile now. From the end of November '07, to be precise. Fever and asthma have been a part of my normal routine.. Just when I thought I was alright for a few days, I'd get fever again. It was horrible!

Finally switched to homeopathy last week. The results are slow, but at least I haven't had a ( Read more... )

You surely dont sleep enough. The less I find you online on weekdays, the better you sleep;)

Things which are surely under your control are sleep, work timings, food habbits, exercises/yoga, etc.

Sometimes I just eat fruits or skip meals altogether.
It is a totally wrong thing to do. I learnt it the hard way. Fruits can be taken alongwith food and not subsitute for it. It is a bit hard, but you need to motivate yourself and eat properly.

I know I don't sleep enough. I've promised myself to improve on that from next week.

How do you motivate to cook for a single person?

Its all in the mind. Try to be happy and maybe try to sing or dance a bit to make it feel good while cooking. Also, music helps. Basically, do whatever you like, which would not let you realize that you are cooking for just 1 person and that would be you;)

Vysh, I hope you feel better soon.

I am not sure I know about asthma all that well. But my better half is asthmatic, so I can share some of the things that he does. He knows what triggers his asthma, which helps him in controlling his environment. For instance, he cannot take agarbathi or certain other fragrances. So, we always have a smell test when we buy something or go somewhere. He is very sensitive to climate change. There is nothing much he can do then, but increase his medication. He is very sensitive to damp or muggy smell coming from bedsheets and comforters. So those have to be washed regularly.

My point of the comment being, other than making lifestyle changes, it will be helpful to find out what triggers your asthma and work your way around it.

Yes, I have worked on avoiding the triggers - cold air, smoke, dust. However it's a bit difficult to avoid everything so 100% and I'm really too sensitive to small changes these days...

I've been sleeping early since this new year (or atleast most of the time the last month), and its been doing me a world of good. Occasionally (when I have a deadline to finish), I've been waking up at 5 am or so, and those 3-4 hours in the morning have been amazingly productive.

What I ended up learning is that proper sleep timings has such an amazing effect on your general lifestyle that it should so not be ignored.

I Totally agree. I used to travel to work in the peak hours once upon a time. Now I leave home at 7:30. What used to be 45 minutes is now 25 minutes. Even cooler, since I get to office by 8:00, I have this whole 2 hours of peace and I end up getting a LOT of things done. Even if it means working with someone for most of the time, I sit and plan my day in those two hours and believe me, planning is the way to Get Things Done... AND, I leave early (I'm back home by 4:30 or 5:00 PM) which again takes only about 30 minutes. What's great, its 30 minutes of being exposed to lesser fumes than what would be at 7:00 PM or so.

I think employers should start encouraging telecommute. For my team, I'm definitely thinking of figuring out a way to work most effectively through telecommutation. Its a problem worth solving.

You should follow the parent comment. I tell my friends to do exactly this --- go to work early and come home early --- but they do not listen. This involves going to bed early every day, including weekends. Once you get into proper sleeping times, it should be easy to follow the schedule.

What's the deal with homeopathy? I am under the impression that it is a sham. Maybe you know better.

Take care and stay healthy.

I agree. Homeopathy has been considered a placebo.

Take care Vysh. Swathi has so nicely listed out many things. May be you should try visiting that doctor in Chennai and also someone I know uses Pankajakasturi and has found it very effective. It is an ayurvedic medicine. Since you have already switched to Homeopathy, I don't know if you can take it without doctor's consultation. TC.

I *so* agree with the suggestions that people have given. Yoga will be really beneficial to you. Listen to Sunson's day-planning tips. And yes, telecommuting or working from home should be encouraged.

HUGGGS for the asthma, it can be SO difficult to live with.
