Getting four new tires this morning.... ahh, fun times. I'd noticed this afternoon that there was a bit of a wobble, looked at the tire after getting out, and there's a nice 7 inch long tread belt separation in progress on the inner edge of the right front tire. o.O ( Read more... )

Gaaaaaaah! Low profile >.<

May I make a suggestion? If you want far better tires and don't care so much about the appearance, go to a junkyard and find the normal steel wheels for your car, with the same hole pattern and everything. Mount up some NORMAL, non-low-profile tires. Get some hubcaps (ok, "wheel covers") and enjoy worry-free wheels and lower cost of operation. You can sell the alloys for probably more than you'll spend on the new tires and wheels, or just keep them as a spare set to use for winter tires.

American's big enough to wheel 'n' deal towers like stock slips, so it doesn't surprise me that they'd divest themselves of a site or two if it wasn't desirable enough to cellular providers.

I ran Goodyear Eagle RS-A tires on my previous Impala and wasn't impressed with their wear life. The new one's riding on Firehawk PV41s. [/wacker]
