Maybe it's me...

But after watching the second season opener of "Heroes," I don't see how it's anything more than Lost, minus the gorgeous scenery and beautiful photography. Oh, and the writing, too, though I see the pilot didn't get eaten by a polar bear this time, and I would so do Greg Grunberg in a heartbeat. Just watch me ( Read more... )

Well, I can't speak for season 2, having seen only 1 episode of it, but almost all of season 1 was absolutely riveting. If only I had known you were going to, I would have told you absolutely not to have watched this episode. Watching season 1 unfold was a really uniquely exciting experience, and knowing what you do now might not ruin it, but it will certainly take away a lot.

Season 1 was paced very quickly, and the only major complaints were about the season 1 ender, which was really not that bad at all. season 2 episode 1 was distinctly boring by comparison, if you ask me. Tonight's episode had "normal tv" pacing, not "heroes" pacing. We'll see if they can do it again this year. I bet they can. Season 1 episode 1 was not that amazing either, though.

I highly recommend attempting to forget anything you absorbed from tonight's episode, and watching season 1 before picking up with it again. Just DVR it or something.

To specifically address your comments, the scenery and photography aren't ever much more interesting than what you saw tonight. At least, not that I noticed. The main thing heroes has that lost doesn't is a story where things actually happen.

Hmmm...I doubt I'll be able to forget everything I saw tonight, and I'll probably just keep watching on Mondays even if I don't get to watch any of Season 1 till mid-way through Season 2. You've convinced me to give Season 1 a try, but I'm still not compelled to watch everything in order for better flow like I was with Lost.

And in Lost's defense, when things do happen, it's a really great show. The second half of the last season was significantly greater than the first half.

I'll be interested to see what you think of it, from the "watching it out of order" perspective.
