Lets Set some things straight...

I have heard a lot of complaining recently about the election and the electoral college, and how they both suck. And how GW Bush is an asshole, and all this other stuff.  Perhaps it is all true, but the only topic I wish to discuss in this "blog" (if you will) is the necessity of the electoral college.

But Maine doesn't have ten people.

Also, in a state like this, i feel my vote is just one more for kerry... and it doesn't mean anything.

The number of votes in Vermont was 310,499. 183,621 to Kerry, 120,710 to Bush. So, if we were to do a popular vote system, Vermont contributed 183,621/55,949,407 votes to Kerry. That would translate to .33% of his vote. In the electoral system, Vermont contributed 1.2% towards Kerry's total electoral votes...the odds may only be a little bit better, but Vermont has more power with electoral votes than the popular vote, and a little bit can make or break an election.
