Author's Note: I fell asleep last night at 7:00. I am so sorry!!! And here we've been waiting for this chapter. Why this chapter? I loved writing the ending to this chapter. There's been all this build up--"How is Damon going to react to the curse?! What does Damon think about all of this??"--and then to just have him believe that we all act the way we want despite the curse... It was heartbreakingly simple and yet... so Damon. I loved it. And I loved how wrong he was!

"I am still a bit confused about the original woman story. So is it the real Annabella or not - because you mentioned her lifeless body in the wood - and that woman was with Klaus?
Anyway, at least we know Elena was cursed to love Stefan! LOL, and it sounds real true in the show as we can never understand how she can jump into a relationship with him while Damon is around.
Poor Damon, but he is a fighter, he won't just let the curse break him.
Can't wait for the next chapter!"

I'm so slow responding... Bah!! I suck so much.
The body Elijah found in the woods was lifeless... but Annabelle isn't dead. She's just lifeless. Her "soul" was taken, if you want to think about it like that, because the doppelganger took her place. And she was with Klaus, but that's 'cause she was being bad and cheating with him. (Or, more specifically, the doppelganger was cheating with him!)
I loved that Elena kind of goes into this tailspin when she hears she's "cursed" to love Stefan. That everything isn't real. If someone told me that about someone I love, I would laugh in their faces. But Elena is horrified. And I think that subtly speaks volumes. I think that's why Damon's reaction is so much more important. Everyone was waiting for him to explode about the whole curse thing, but I think him not exploding says a lot more.
Thank you!!!

Let me see if I got this, she loved St. Stefan because she inclined to by magic, but she loved Damon by choice, but she fears that maybe his love for her is magic induced?
Why can't anyone see that Elena broke the cycle? and I do wonder, if Damon can kill Klaus, or perhaps is connected to him, what's with him consuming Klaus' blood and all. Does that mean Damon's become a hybrid?
And why was their mother's journal on the Lockwood's cellar?

The journal in the cellar... I promise when this story ends, I will reveal ALL! LOL!

I also second the confusion on the body in the woods but then he wanted to save his wife?

The body in the woods--it was lifeless, but she wasn't dead. Just lifeless. The doppelganger had stolen her "soul" (if you want to think about it like that) and left her body discarded on the ground to be forgotten, frozen for eternity. The doppelganger started having an affair with Klaus, but it wasn't Annabelle, and Elijah trusted his wife to never cheat on him, so he knew something was up.
I hope that helped! It was kind of convoluted! <3
