So thursday night dad had a short period of garbled speech and turned out to have crazy high blood pressure, so we went over to hospital. Since then, the vast majority of my waking hours have been here at hospital, which thankfully has good wifi.

Thanks for sharing what has been happening, It sounds like it was a miserable, frustrating, frightening situation - all around. I have been praying for you and your father (for what that's worth). I am also sorry that you haven't been able to find your phone. I thought that the Find me/locate me service was supposed to be easier with phones than with tablets. How disappointing that it isn't.

FOUND PHONE. Which was out of power, which was nestled in a corner oN a floor behind a DustBuster and from most angles a bunch of other stuff and only visible on approach /from/ an alcove I had not been in on thursday. Beware of leopard. Prob had it in hand when returned dustbustr to charge. Was at the time wandering around vaguely looking on unlikely surfaces while m, on the land line, lectured me about grid search technique.

Sounds like a difficult time...glad you have docfriend involved.

http://android.stackexchange.com/questions/96661/how-can-i-find-my-phone-when-its-on-silent-vibrate-mode and http://www.popsugar.com/tech/How-Find-Your-iPhone-Silent-37631381 have some interesting comments re phones on silent. One suggestion---look for rf interference caused by phone---even works when the phone is on silent.

Not being able to find your phone has to be icing on the frustrating cake.

Good luck dealing with all this.
