1) Last night’s dips/drops class was fun. There were enough guys for me and leiacat to join, and Ellen joined the rotation to get us to even. They began with a variation to the 6 count basic that somewhat broke my brain (I'd been changing during the explanation) but was neat in that it modified the rock step such that certain stuff required a lot less ( Read more... )

Perhaps the context is intended as an expression of faith in fate?

Re #7: I see people attributing all sorts of things to faith that really have more to do with utterly random factors. People don't like thinking that there is no one controlling things, so they ascribe this sort of thing to a "higher power". Good things happen because the person "had faith", while bad things happen because it's "God's will".

As an atheist I can but shake my head in amazement, while others of "faith" nod their heads eagerly. I believe the term is "confirmation bias", the tendency to believe those things that support your view while dismissing those that don't.
