That’s not too horribly bad, but it was $5.05 to do so. It takes me 25 min to drive (plus getting through the building, so call it closer to half an ( Read more... )

And thanks.

I could see doing this from time to time, though - it's just that the price Metro's gotten to is galling, and I wonder how many people drive to work because of it.

"I keep my wallet in there" should be sufficient justification for putting the coat in reach/not in the hallway. If it's magnetic maybe you can just move it inside the cube.

Re Metro. Yes. It is designed scheduled and priced such that it's only really uzable if you have no ther choice.
This may be less true if you live and work downtown but out by the beltway it is inferior to private transport.
Past the beltway "public transportation" is a joke.

Good luck with phone calls, making them and getting what you need from them.

nothing crazy about wanting to be comfortable in a place you spend 40 hours a week.

The drive/metro debate is a constant ongoing consideration of my life. There are times when it totally makes sense for me to use public transit, and there are times when it doesn't. There are also things that the transit authority could do to make the experience vastly more appealing to me in the second case, but they're short on budget and I don't know if it's going to happen.

2.50 at this point, but I have to bus/train to the city to get into the system and that's where the questions come up. If I can use a 10 pack of bus tickets, then they're reasonably priced, but they expire faster than I sometimes used them and single priced tickets are so expensive that it's cheaper to pay for parking. If I'm going in when I can park for free it's faster than the bus at some hours, but not always, and it may affect whether I can use all my bus tickets on time. Train tickets are cheaper, but with tunnel congestion and a two-seat trip, it can take 2-4 times longer to get in... this is the conversation in my head.

I remain galled by 5.05 one way on just the basic Metro. But I may not understand the scale of NY & Bostonish. Admittedly some of the ends are a good 40 min drive.
